Në gjuhën shqipe janë disa emra të gjinisë mashkullore që kur dalin në numrin shumës pësojnë ndryshime në rrënjën e fjalës. Të tillë janë emrat: dash; cjap; ka; kal; gomar; kulaç; gardh; plak; lak; hendek; shteg; breg; etj. Këtu unë nuk do të ndalem t’i analizoj të gjitha rastet e shumësit të emrat të gjinisë mashkullore, por do të analizoj vetëm formimin e shumësit të emrave mashkullor të tipit të emrave të paraqitur më lart.
Duke dëgjuar një emision televiziv në një nga kanalet televizive shqiptare ndër më të shikuarit, një raportues lokal në mes të tjerave përdor emrin kulaç në numrin shumës me formatin: kulaçër, ndërsa drejtuesi i emisionit me një dëshirë të ligjshme për ta korrigjuar i thotë: kuleçër dhe jo kulaçër. Në fakt mua ma vrau veshin, pasi, jo vetëm raportuesi lokal, por edhe formatori korrigjues e vendosën gabim shumësin e emrit kulaç. Forma e saktë duhet të ishte kuleçë dhe jo kalaçër dhe as kuleçër. Më poshtë po jap si e bëjnë shumësin emrat e sipërshënuar:
Dash – desh dhe jo deshër dhe as dashër
Cjap – cjep dhe jo cjepër dhe as cjapër
Ka – qe
Kal – kuaj dhe jo kalër
Gomar – gomerë dhe jo gomarër e as gomerër
Gardh – gjerdhe por edhe gardhiq
Plak – pleq dhe jo pleqër
Lak – leqe dhe jo leqër por rasti i mëposhtëm ndryshon
Shtrat – shtretër dhe jo shtret e as shtratër
Hendek – hendiq dhe jo hendiqër
Shteg – shtigje dhe jo shtigj e as shtigjër
Breg – brigje dhe jo brigj dhe as brigjër. Ka një rast tjetër kur del brigj dhe ky rast jo për fjalën breg, por për emrin brig që do të thotë një copë dheu i shkëputur nga toka me një lopatë, kazëm apo plug me të cilin lërohet toka dhe mund të thuhet edhe brig dheu. Në këtë rast shumësi i takon kategorisë së emrave që mbarojnë me “k”, “g” e këtë e kam trajtuar në një shkrim tjetër e nuk mendoj se është e nevojshme ta trajtoj edhe një herë tjetër këtu. Qëllimi i këtij shkrimi ishte të vija në dukje se jo të gjithë emrat e gjinisë mashkullore kur dalin në numrin shumës e kanë të domosdoshme ta marrin prapashtesën –ër nga pas, pasi nuk është forma normative e pranuar.
